Your story matters. Your story matters because it matters to God. And whether you’ve been a part of our community for days or decades, your story is a part of our story; of Bethany’s story, an almost century old story that is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and bright spots of the Holy Spirit’s presence as Jesus has been at work in our community through faithful sisters and brothers who have sought to further the mission of God.

And these saints and sinners have wrestled with questions of faith, of loving and caring for the lost and the least, and of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. A central part of our story has been written because of the faithfulness of countless individuals who have called Bethany Covenant Church their home. So as we look to what lies ahead, standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us and hoping for those who will follow us, we ask, “What is God calling Bethany to?” What chapter is the Holy Spirit writing next in the story of our church?

As we continue to dialogue about this question and discern where God is leading us next, we invite you to first join us in prayer; to pray for God’s direction, for unity, and for clarity. We also ask that you be in prayer for the team that has been appointed by our leadership team; a group of people who will be intentional in asking the question of what God is calling Bethany to next. This group is committed to discerning the Holy Spirit’s activity and guidance, providing voice and advocacy for our whole church community, and seeking to continue to extend the love of Jesus to the Skagit Valley and beyond. This team will be utilizing resources provided by our denomination, the Evangelical Covenant Church.

An essential and primary part of the process is hearing from you. We invite you to share your story and help us shape the continuing story of Bethany through a congregational survey. This is an opportunity for you to voice how you have seen God at work at Bethany and how you hope God will continue to work in the future.

We encourage you to continue to help us tell the Story of God, and that in so doing, the love of Jesus would continue to reach all the ends of the earth.
